Disruptions: Fusinato, Ambarchi and Fox

December 2013

  • The Melbourne Review

Three of Melbourne’s most influential experimental artists come together for their annual gig, this time under the umbrella of the NGV’s Melbourne Now.

Forming part of a series of events around the vast Melbourne Now program, the Corner Hotel in Richmond steps up tomorrow night (December 4) to host three of Melbourne’s most distinguished light and sound experimentalists: Robin Fox, Marco Fusinato and Oren Ambarchi.

The trio, who get together just once a year, join forces again to present Disruptions, an extravagant audio-visual performance, linking their annual event to the NGV’s Melbourne Now Wired for Sound program.

There is no questioning the influence all three artists have had on the Australian experiemental music underground over the past decade or more. Marco Fusinato, though best known for visual art, will perform his inimitablebrand of analog infused guitar noise; Oren Ambarchi, a constantly ambitious, challenging and rewarding sound artist, will present his duo version of ‘Knots’; and Robin Fox, remembered for his blazing entry into the Adelaide Festival’s Unsound program in 2013, returns to his hometown for a rare appearance with his mind-bending laser show.

Tickets $15 at the door.
