In Bob We Trust to raise funds for Philippine typhoon victims
November 2013
This Saturday, November 23, Cinema Nova presents a special fundraising screening of In Bob We Trust to raise much needed funds for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, one of the worst natural disasters to hit the Philippines.
The screening includes a special appearance from Father Bob who will introduce the film and talk about the situation in the Philippines. World Vision will receive 100% of the proceeds from the screening. World Vision was chosen by Father Bob and the filmmakers.
World Vision reports that Typhoon Haiyan has affected more than 11 million people, including 1.7 million children. The damage is catastrophic and aid workers are racing against time to deliver food, water and shelter.
“We have all been deeply moved by the Typhoon disaster in the Philippines and the devastation it has caused. We are pleased to team up with Father Bob Maguire and Ghost Pictures to help raise funds for World Vision,” said Cinema Nova’s General Manager Kristian Connelly.
In Bob We Trust follows the cantankerous, controversial and much loved Catholic provocateur who is a staunch advocate on behalf of the disadvantaged and disenfranchised. Director Lynn-Maree Milburn and producer Richard Lowenstein spent three years following Father Bob, documenting one of the most turbulent times in his career: his forced retirement and eviction from the church he called home for 38 years, capturing unique footage to tell this David versus Goliath story.
Exclusive to Cinema Nova, In Bob We Trust opened to rave reviews from critics and fans alike, with Father Bob often attending screenings and chatting to Nova patrons.
Come along and experience this terrific Australian film and help raise money for the Philippines.
In Bob We Trust: Fundraising Screening will be held on Saturday November 23 at 12.15pm at Cinema Nova, 380 Lygon Street, Carlton.
Tickets on sale now from the Nova box office or on-line at cinemanova.com.au
