Joan Armatrading announces final major world tour

After 42 years of touring, performing and recording – with more than 20 albums to her name – world-renowned blues singer Joan Armatrading has announced that her next world tour will be her last.

For a final, special affair, Armatrading will undertake the tour solo, bringing only her piano, guitar, gutsy voice and soul-baring presence to the stage.

“I will never retire,” Armatrading says in a press release, “but this will be the last major tour that I will undertake.

“I want these concerts to be a special, lively, interactive one-to-one experience. I have absolutely enjoyed the last 42 years of performances but now, with my final major tour, I want to capture a unique memory for both myself and the audience.”

With over four decades of material to work from, Armatrading will revisit classics – Me Myself IDrop The Pilot and Willow – while peppering the shows with her recent contributions to pop, folk, blues and jazz history.

Joan Armatrading will perform at the Recital Centre on Monday, December 8. Tickets are on sale now through  (03 9699 3333).
